Geek Experts Technician Safety Policy

1. Purpose:
This Technician Safety Policy aims to establish guidelines and procedures to ensure the safety of Geek Experts, LLC technicians during the installation of low-voltage wiring, termination of data cables, operation of lifts, climbing ladders, and all related activities. This policy is designed to prevent accidents and injuries and promote a safe working environment.
2. General Safety Guidelines:
a. All technicians must prioritize their safety and the safety of others at all times.
b. Adherence to local, state, and federal safety regulations is mandatory.
c. Technicians must be aware of and follow industry best practices for structured cabling installations.
d. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility vests, and appropriate footwear.
3. Equipment Operation:
a. Technicians operating lifts must be certified and trained in lift operation.
b. Lifts and other equipment must undergo regular maintenance and inspections to ensure they are in proper working condition.
c. Technicians should never override or bypass safety features on any equipment.
d. Before using any equipment, technicians must perform a pre-use inspection to identify and address any potential issues.
4. Ladder Safety:
a. Only trained and authorized technicians should climb ladders.
b. Use the right ladder for the job, ensuring it is in good condition and properly positioned.
c. Maintain three points of contact when climbing or descending a ladder.
d. Do not use ladders on unstable surfaces.
5. Communication:
a. Technicians must communicate effectively with each other during installations, especially when working at heights or in areas with limited visibility.
b. Emergency communication procedures should be established and understood by all technicians.
6. Ergonomics:
a. Proper lifting techniques should be used to prevent strains and injuries.
b. Adequate breaks should be taken to prevent fatigue.
7. Emergency Procedures:
a. Technicians should be familiar with emergency exits and evacuation procedures at each job site.
b. First aid kits must be available on every job site, and technicians should be trained in basic first aid.
c. Emergency contact information for each technician must be on file and easily accessible.
8. Reporting Incidents:
a. All accidents, injuries, and near misses must be reported immediately to a supervisor or manager.
b. A detailed incident report should be completed, including information on what happened, who was involved, and any corrective actions taken.
9. Training:
a. All technicians must undergo regular safety training to stay informed about the latest safety practices and regulations.
b. New technicians should receive comprehensive safety training before starting work.
10. Compliance:
a. Non-compliance with this safety policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.
b. Any concerns or suggestions for improving safety should be reported to the designated safety officer.
